Mission

The mission of the Academy is to provide RRHA youth opportunities to participate in a variety of sports and cultural-related activities while receiving intensive, case management services. Bringing youth together from all communities is an opportunity for youth to gain enhanced socialization skills and respect for one another. The Academy deters gang and other anti-social behavior by providing opportunities for youth to interact positively with RRHA and non-RRHA youth reaching across various socio-economic levels.

Program Overview

The Academy is a comprehensive, prevention program that uses sports as a catalyst for engaging youth in organized, structured programs. Once youth are engaged in the various sports, fine arts, education, and career exploration programs, they are provided intensive case management services including, but not limited to, counseling, tutoring, mentoring, leadership, cultural enrichment, social, career, and other programs aimed at helping youth aspire to reach their fullest potential. Youth enrolled in the Academy are required to participate in all activities to remain in good standing.

Requirements

All Academy participants, to remain in good standing, must maintain satisfactory academic performance in school or be in a program designed to assist them in reaching the goal of solid academic performance. They must also have satisfactory attendance and behavior in school and the Academy, and participate in all scheduled activities and workshops. Current report cards must be on file at the Academy. Youth must also attend an orientation session prior to enrollment.
