Through Affordable Housing, RRHA manages
and maintains 16 housing developments
for low-income families, nine developments
for the low-income elderly and the disabled
and a number of scattered-site single-family
homes and special housing units throughout
the city of Richmond. In addition, the
Housing Choice Voucher Program (formally
Section 8 Housing Assistance Program)
provides rental assistance to private-market
landlords on behalf of eligible families.
RRHAs public housing communities
and assisted housing programs provide
quality, affordable housing for Richmonders.
By offering programs and outreach services
to residents of these communities, RRHA
housing serves as a stepping stone to
upward mobility and self-sufficiency.
RRHAs Affordable Housing Department
is composed of Housing Management, Maintenance
and Modernization, the Housing Choice
Voucher Program (formally Section 8),
Resident Services and Public Safety Divisions.
