Approved by Richmond City Council as a redevelopment area in 1990, Jackson Place is located near downtown Richmond in the Historic Jackson Ward community. The Jackson Place area is bounded by Duval Street, Jackson Street, 3rd Street and Chamberlayne Parkway.

A multi-faceted rehabilitation effort of existing homes, historic structures, and Phase I new construction is underway, through the efforts of the Jackson Ward Community, city of Richmond, RRHA and private development partners. Adjacent to Jackson Place, the Jackson Ward neighborhood has been designated as on the Richmond's "Neighborhoods in Bloom" areas.

Restoring History in Jackson Ward!

Current completions in Jackson Place include the restoration of the historic W. W. Browne house, on Jackson Street, the site of the nation's first chartered, African-American-founded bank, built around 1845; and the restoration of the Tucker Cottage, by Walker Row Partnership, Inc.

Residential development announced for Historic Jackson Ward

RRHA and Miller & Associates/Walker Row Partnership, Inc. will bring new single-family homes and multi-family housing units to Jackson Place.

As the selected developer, Miller & Associates/Walker Row Partnership, Inc. will build Jackson Commons, A Premier Downtown Community in the Heart of Historic Jackson Ward. The project plans include 108 new units to be constructed that include 61 single-family attached town homes and 25 multi-family housing units. The single- family homes will range from 1,300 to 1,800 square feet with two-and three-bedroom floor plans including attached garages. The multi-family housing units will be one-and two-bedrooms; and on-site parking will be included.

Jackson Commons will feature design elements that reflect the architectural features of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood, along with modern amenities such as hardwood floors and state-of-the-art appliances. The units will be gated with decorative brick and ironwork fencing and a keypad entry system. This development will also offer close proximity to the economic, academic, social and cultural aspects of the City of Richmond. Jackson Commons will be bounded by Chamberlayne Parkway, West Duval Street, Saint James Street and West Leigh Street, in a seven-acre area.

This $20 million development project is underway. For more information on these new homes call Walker Row Partnership, Inc. at 804-266-2021.
