What is the Housing Search Assistance Program?

The Housing Search Assistance Program (HSAP) is a federally funded program to help Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) Housing Choice Voucher Program families rent housing in quality neighborhoods in the Richmond Metropolitan area.

Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) trains families on how to be good tenants, and provides long-term support to program families. A Housing Marketing Specialist works directly and individually with housing providers to help execute necessary paperwork and ensure that participation in the program is a simple, straightforward and efficient process.


What are the Benefits?

  • The Housing Market Specialist provides rental resources and education to participating landlords in order to match good properties with good tenants.
  • Assists Housing Choice Voucher clients with program requirements.
  • Provides training for Housing Choice Voucher clients on becoming a 'superior tenant'.
  • A Housing Market Specialist supports RRHA and acts as a liaison for any landlord/tenant issues.
