The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) provides rental assistance to low-income families in the private rental market.
Are you a landlord in the metro Richmond area interested in participating in the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority's (RRHA's) Housing Choice Voucher Program? Do you know a landlord who may be interested in participating? Here are a few benefits for landlords to consider:
- Guaranteed Rent: Through this rent subsidy program, if a family experiences a loss of income, RRHA, in most instances would increase its portion of the rent payment.
- Good clients. RRHA conducts criminal history background checks on all potential Housing Choice clients. Landlords are able to develop their own selection criteria, as well. A participating landlord is not required to rent to a family that does not meet all eligibility requirements.
- Low Vacancy Rates: Because clients are looking for quality affordable housing, a Housing Choice landlord may not frequently have a vacant property.
Interested in listing your property with the Housing Choice Program? Call RRHA at (804) 780-4361, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , or e-mail us at info@rrha.com . The authority will mail you a packet of information about the program and may offer to schedule an owner orientation for you.
If you decide to participate in the program, be prepared to furnish proof of legal ownership of any units(s) that you are offering under the program.
(This is a requirement of the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (Virginia HUD office)).
Thank you for your interest! We invite you to visit the other
