To our Richmond Community:

As the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) continues the exciting journey of community revitalization in the Dove Street area, we are prepared to launch a comprehensive planning process and series of Public Information and Design Charrette sessions with our residents and community in mind!

The revitalization planning meetings will be in two phases. The first phase includes the Kick-Off Public Information Meeting and Charrette/Open House Session on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Additional Charrette/Open House Sessions will also take place on Wednesday, November 12th and Thursday, November 13th. The Charrettes/Open Houses will include brainstorming sessions to gather and discuss architectural design concepts for a new community.

All meetings are scheduled to be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Overby Sheppard Elementary School located at 2300 First Avenue in Richmond.

The second phase will focus on final planning and decision making and will include two additional meetings -- December 10, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and February 4, 2009, also from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Overby Sheppard Elementary School.

The Dove Street Master Planning process represents one of several major strategic goals included in RRHA’s Strategic Plan. The revitalization of Dove Street will bring us one step closer to our long-term goal of revitalizing residential and commercial communities throughout the City of Richmond. ICON Architects, Inc., the Master Planner behind both the revitalization of North Jackson Ward and the Dove Street area, will lead RRHA in efforts to revamp and reinvigorate these central, vital neighborhoods into thriving, self-sustaining mixed-income communities.
