Richmond City Council Appoints New RRHA Board Member James “Turk” Sties

RICHMOND, VA-February 14, 2008 — Richmond City Council has announced the appointment of James “Turk” Sties to the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) Board of Commissioners. Sties replaces Sheila Hill-Christian who resigned from the board after she accepted the position as the city’s chief administrative officer. His term ends November 2010.


RRHA Board Chairman Brian K. Jackson stated, “On behalf of RRHA and the Board of Commissioners, I am very pleased to welcome Mr. Sties to our Board. I look forward to working with him to further implement the agency’s Strategic Plan.”

Sties, who is retired, formerly worked in building management, procurement and contract administration at the Federal Reserve Bank where he was employed for 25 years. He has also been active in many neighborhood and volunteer service efforts; serving as chairman of the Near West Neighborhood Team for several years, and is now vice-chairman of the city’s Monroe Park Advisory Council and the 2 nd District representative to the Mayor’s Neighborhood Roundtable.

Sties is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) is the largest housing authority in the commonwealth of Virginia.
